Gamuda Awarded Taiwan Underground Railway Project Worth RM2.13 Billion

Gamuda Berhad together with Asia World Engineering & Construction Co.as been awarded the construction and completion of TaoYuan City Underground Railway Project in Taiwan.

The project worth RM2.13 billion is for Package CJ18 PingZhen Commuter Station which has been issued by the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Railway Bureau, a Taiwan state-owned railway company.

With the recent rapid development of TaoYuan city, the TaoYuan city local government is strategically expanding its infrastructure plan which includes the upgrading of commuter services by the relocation of railway tracks and stations from above-ground to the underground. The Project includes the construction of 3.734km underground twin-bound railway track with an underground commuter station at PingZhen which is located beneath the existing train station. The new
underground alignment will optimise and promote efficient use of land in PingZhen District.

According to Bursa filing, Gamuda will be involved in the Civil Engineering and M&E works for PingZhen commuter station; Construct 3.734km underground twin-bound railway track by cut & cover method (excluding permanent rail installation); ZhongFeng bridge protection works; Relocation of LaoJie river bridge; Construct temporary PingZhen above the ground commuter station (approx. 44m long, 6.5m wide and 10m height, 2 levels); and the Construct permanent PingZhen underground commuter station (approx. 341m long, 17m wide and 15m deep, 2 levels)
