Genting Malaysia and Genting Malaysia Berhad Workers Union have inked the 13th Collective Agreement (CA) at the Genting International Convention Centre (GICC) yesterday.

The agreement was signed by Genting Malaysia Berhad Chief Operating Officer, Lee Thiam Kit and Sikindar Ibrahim, President of Genting Malaysia Berhad Workers Union in the presence of Tuan Khalid Jali, Director-General of the Industrial Relations Department, Human Resources Ministry.

The signing of the 13th Collective Agreement was a culmination of the understanding and effort put forth by both parties to forge a harmonious partnership that will serve and benefit the company and its employees, according to Lee.

“The signing of the 13 th Collective Agreement demonstrates how both parties can work together through constant consultations and discussions to come up with new and efficient approaches to amicably resolve any issues that may arise,” he said.

The said agreement is significant in that it provides for better remuneration and benefits to more than 5,500 employees. Salary adjustments have been granted for various job positions. Additionally, split duty allowance and hospitalisation benefits have also seen an upward revision. Employees will also be granted compassionate leave in the event of natural disasters; and enjoy optical benefits alongside dental benefits.

“With all these improvements, we believe that our employees would strive harder to sustain the Company’s business growth for the mutual benefit of both parties,” he added.

“The 13th Collective Agreement had been delayed for nearly 2 years due to the global COVID-19 pandemic that adversely affected the tourism and hospitality industry. The tourism industry was one of the worst hit industries during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Lee said.

“Moving forward, Genting Malaysia would continue to adopt new technology and innovation, invest in the development of employee skills and knowledge; and review job processes to increase efficiency and productivity,” he added.
