GE15: Government To Consider Granting A Special Holiday On November 18

The proposal to grant a special holiday before polling day to facilitate the movement of voters in the 15th General Election (GE15) will be considered, said Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Speaking at a press conference after the Kenduri Rakyat program in Kampung Bohor Baharu, Kuala Bera here today, Ismail Sabri said the proposal had been discussed after the dissolution of Parliament on October 10.

Previously, the Public Service Employees’ Union Congress (Cuepacs) suggested that the government declare Nov 18 as a special public holiday to facilitate the movement of Malaysians to the polling locations on November 19.

Its president Datuk Adnan Mat said that even though the voting date falls on Saturday, the additional public holiday a day early should be given as many Malaysians do not vote where they work.
