Agong Presents Instruments Of Appointment To 11 Malaysian Diplomatic Corps Envoys

His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has pardoned the approval of the appointment of 11 Heads of Diplomatic Representations with an appointment letter handing over ceremony held at Istana Negara on Friday.

The ceremony was also attended by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Dato’ Sri Amran Mohamed Zin.

The newly-appointed diplomatic missions are:

Dato’ Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, as the Malaysian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

Dato’ Seri Anmad Fadil is a graduate of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM) and joined the public service in 1995. Before this appointment, he has been Datuk Pengelola Dirajaya at the Istana Negara since 2019. Prior to the palace, he was the Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar (2017-2019); Malaysian Ambassador to the Republic of Poland (2016-2017); and Consul General Malaysia in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He was also assigned to the office of Other Malaysian Diplomatic Representations in Canberra, Australia; Havana, Cuba; and Santiago, Chile.

Aside for the Diplomatic Corps, he has held positions of Special Officer to the State Foreign Minister and has been stationed in the Multilateral Affairs Department as well as the OIC Division.

Dato’ Tan Yang Thai as The future Ambassador of Malaysia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Graduated with a Masters in International Relations from Waseda University in Japan, Dato’ Tan Yang Thai joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1995. Before this appointment, he held the position of Malaysian High Commissioner Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka since 2018.

He had also served as Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, and other Malaysian Diplomatic Mission offices in Moscow, Russian Federation; and Tashkent, Uzbekistan prior to this appointment. He has held positions as the Divisional Secretary for South Asia and Central Asia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after serving as the CLMV Division Secretary and Oceania and duties in East Asia Division, Development Division and Asia Division, Southeast.

Dr. Adina binti Kamarudin asThe future Ambassador of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany

Dr. Adina graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of Law from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and began service as an Officer Diplomatic Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of Director General of the Department of Maritime Affairs since year 2018.

Her experience serving abroad includes being assigned as Consul General of Malaysia in Frankfurt, Germany and Second Secretary at the Malaysian Embassy in Dublin, Ireland. She has also serves the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Inspectorate Division, Economic Division and Consular Division.

Dr. Adina is also an Adjunct Professor at Sultan Zainal Abidin University (UniSZA) and Visiting Principal Research Fellow, Institute of Oceanography & Environment (INOS), UniversityTerengganu Malaysia (UMT).

Ambassador Mohammad Azhar bin Mazlan asThe prospective High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Ambassador Mohammad Azhar is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University in the United States and joined the civil service in 1994. Before this appointment, he held the position of Secretary of the South Asia Division and Central Asia since 2019.

Throughout his diplomatic career, Ambassador Azhar has served as an Ambassador Malaysian Ambassador to Mexico (2015-2018) and Malaysian Consul General in Davao City, Philippines. He was also assigned at the Malaysian Diplomatic Representative office another in Rome, Italy; and Suva, Fiji.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Azhar once held the position of as Director at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Deputy Director General at the Southeast Asia Regional Center for Terrorism Prevention (SEARCCT), Deputy Director General in the Policy and Strategic Planning Department and other settlements in the West Asian and North African Divisions and African Divisions and South of the Sahara.
