Yinson Voluntarily Participates in United Nations Global Compact Initiative

Joining thousands of other companies globally committed to taking responsible business action to create the world we all want, Yinson has joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative.

To recap, UN Global Compact initiative is a voluntary leadership platform advocating for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.

The UN Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles (Ten Principles) in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of UN goals and issues embodied in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The initiave was launched in 2000, and is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 15,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, and more than 70 local networks.

“Yinson supports this initiative by incorporating the Ten Principles into its strategies, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity. We recognise that corporate sustainability starts with the company’s value system and our commitment shows our support in the way we do business,” Yinson’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Lim Chern Yuan remarked.

“Yinson looks to not only uphold its basic responsibilities to the people and planet but also set the stage for long-term success,” Lim added.

“Since 2018, Yinson has embarked on a journey that puts sustainability considerations at the core of all its decision-making. We have strategically aligned our focus with seven key UN SDGs.”

Last year, Yinson announced support for the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and published its first TCFD-aligned Climate Report.

Recently, the Group also received an improved FTSE4Good ESG rating of 3.8, placing Yinson in the top 14th percentile in its Industry Classification Benchmark Supersector.

In addition, Yinson achieved a 1st percentile ranking from Sustainalytics for both the energy services industry and the oil and gas equipment sub-industry, with a score of 17.4.
