TNB Announces The Cessation Of Non Executive Chairman Dato Hassan Arifin

Tenaga Nasional has informed Bursa Securities of the cessation of office of its non-executive chairman Dato Hassan Arifin effective 1 January 2023. He was appointed to the board on October 2021.

Dato Hassan was appointed after former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri started placing some of his men in the cabinet who also influenced on the appointment of a chairman for GLCs.

Prior to taking up the post in TNB, he was the Chairman of Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad since 16 June 2020 and a Member of the Malaysian Parliament representing Rompin since 2015. He was the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) (2015 – 2018) and also the Deputy Chief Minister of Pahang (1995 – 1999). Dato’ Sri Hasan Arifin graduated in Economics from the University of Malaya and studied management at the Asian Institute of Management in Manila.

Recently, newly inducted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim instructed his administration the termination of all political appointees at Government Linked Companies. The cessation of Dato Hassan could be directly associated with that order.
