Digi.Com Berhad has appointed YM Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin bin Raja Abdul Aziz as Chair of the Board of Directors of the company and as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director.
He succeeds Tan Sri Dr. Halim Shafie who steps down as Chair of the Board and from his responsibilities as Board member on 19 January 2023.
Prior to this appointment, Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin was the Chief Investment Officer at Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah) responsible for Khazanah’s entire investment portfolio. He also served Khazanah in various senior positions such as Deputy Managing Director and Executive Director of Investments since 2011.
Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin was also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Airlines after joining the company in August 2005 as the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that, he was in multiple leadership roles at Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad and PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and Hong Kong. He was previously Chairman of UEM Group and Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels Sdn Bhd and has held directorships in Axiata Group Berhad, IHH Healthcare Berhad, and Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre Berhad (MaGIC). He is currently a board member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board.
He holds a First-class degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge, is a Chartered Accountant, and is an Associate Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He is also an Associate of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT).
