Profit-Taking in Heavyweights, FBM KLCI Dipped Lower at Noon

Bursa Malaysia ended the Wednesday morning trading session in red with the bell-weathered index FBM KLCI fell 4.14 points or -0.28% at 1,496.19.

The index opened marginally higher this morning and trended southward afterwards. It was under downward pressure as investors remain cautious mode with profit-taking in selected index-linked heavyweights.

At 9:00 am, the main index opened at 1,501.30 vis-a-vis last Friday’s close of 1,500.33

During the morning trading session, the index was traded in the range of 1,494.73 – 1,501.86.

However, market breadth was overwhelmingly positive with gainers outnumbered losers 433 to 290, while 366 counters were unchanged.

Trading volume and value were registered at 1.47 billion units and RM823.66 million, respectively.

Top five active counters for the morning session were Sapura Energy, Cypark Resources, Dagang Nexchange, Velesto Energy, Coraza Integrated Technology

Top five gainers were Heineken Malaysia, Hextar Technologies Solutions, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia, Malaysian Pacific Industries, British American Tobacco.

Whilst top five decliners were PETRONAS Dagangan, PETRONAS Gas, MISC, Fraser & Neave, Hong Leong Financial Group.
