FBM KLCI Declined 0.31% Weighed Down by Jittery Mood Ahead of US CPI Data

Bursa Malaysia finished off the Monday morning trading session in negative note with the bell-weathered index FBM KLCI shed 4.56 points or -0.31% at 1,470.03.

The main index was dragged by technology stocks and selected heavyweights with higher US treasury rate. Also the investors remain jittery, influenced by performance of regional bourses as market participants are putting their focus on the US CPI data to be released on Tuesday.

At 9:00 am, the main index inched up slightly higher at 1,474.72 vis-a-vis last Friday’s close of 1,474.59.

During the morning trading session, the index oscillated in the range of 1,469.26 – 1,474.84.

Meanwhile, on the broader market was overwhelmingly negative with decliners outpaced gainers 528 to 269, while 387 counters were unchanged.

Trading volume and value were registered at 2.240 billion units and RM943 million respectively.

Top five active counters for the morning session My EG Services, Iris Corporation, Sapura Energy, Zen Tech International, Vinvest Capital.

Top five gainers were Nestle Malaysia, KESM Industries, Fraser & Neave, Visdynamics Holdings, MCE Holdings.

Whilst top five decliners were Malaysian Pacific Industries, Hextar Technologies Solutions, Kuala Lumpur Kepong, Vitrox Corp, PETRONAS Chemicals.
