Ministry of Health Bans Cosmetic Products Containing Mercury

The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) of  Ministry of Health (MOH) would like to urge the public to avoid buying and using the following cosmetic products because it contains the poisonous element of mercury.

*Karisma Turmeric Booster Cream
*Flashhskinzz Treatment Cream

Following that, the product notification of the cosmetic products mentioned above was canceled by the Senior Director of Pharmacy Services and MOH and were not allowed to be sold in Malaysia.

According to the MoH official statement, it added that mercury is prohibited in cosmetic products because it can be harmful to health. It can be absorbed into the body and cause damage to the kidneys and nervous system. It can also interfere with the brain development of young or unborn children. On top of that mercury also causes rashes, irritation and other changes on the skin.
