MCMC Is Considering Action Against Awesome TV For License Breach

With regards to Awesome TV news presentation that commented on the possibility of the government downsizing the civil force which was not true, could be facing further action by the authority.

In a statement sent to the media, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said it is considering regulatory action against Awesome Broadcasting Sdn Bhd (ABSB) on the possible violation of section 36 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (AKM) 1998. Under the act, all broadcasting operations by a television station must comply with the rules and conditions of the license specified in the License CASP Content Application Service Provider Individuals.

MCMC said it takes licensing compliance seriously and is committed to ensuring the level of compliance of CASP License holders. Failure to do so is a serious offence and may be subject to appropriate action under the existing legal provisions.
