Tan Sri Razarudin Husain’s service as Deputy Inspector General of Police has been extended by contract for two years with effect from Thursday (March 16) until 15 March 2025.

Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said Razarudin’s appointment had been approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the Prime Minister’s advice on the Police Force Commission’s (SPP) certificate in accordance with Clauses 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution.

“The government wishes you well and congratulations on this appointment,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Previously, the media reported that the retreat ceremony for Razarudin’s retirement last Tuesday was canceled, believed to be related to the extension of the service contract.

Razarudin, 60, was appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police in December 2021.

Born in Dengkil, Selangor, he started work in 1984 at the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) of the Kedah Contingent as an investigating officer and continued to serve in the department until 1996 with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Muar district, Johor.

He has held various positions in the team, including Head of the Penang Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ), Staff Officer of the Perak Serious Crime Investigation Department (D9), Perak Police Chief and Director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department before being appointed to the number two position in the PDRM.
