UEM Edgenta Contributed Food Aid To 1,000 Flood-Affected Families In Segamat

UEM Edgenta contributed food aid worth RM 50,000 to 1,000 families who were severely affected by the recent floods in Segamat, Johor.

The food aid comprised essential items such as rice, flour, sugar, biscuits, cooking oil, sardines,  noodles, tea and coffee. At the height of the floods in early March 2023, Segamat had more than 13,000 flood victims, where almost 80 per cent of the residential areas within the district were  submerged under water.

The contribution is in line with UEM Edgenta’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitment specifically to positively impact society through its philanthropic activities and  engagements, benefiting local communities where the company has its business operations.

This initiative is a testament of UEM Edgenta’s continuous commitment in going above and beyond  to provide necessary assistance to the communities affected by natural disasters whilst remaining  steadfast to being a responsible corporate citizen in reaching out to communities impacted during  times of need.

“Each and everyone of us has a responsibility to reach out to those in need, especially those who  have been affected by the disaster. Unassumingly, natural disaster does not have any address and it  can happen to anyone, especially to your loved ones. It is said that there is no better act of kindness than reaching out to others and helping to lift someone up. We believe that the true test of a person’s  life is the impact they have on others. UEM Edgenta is also a firm believer in giving back to the  community, and it is hoped that our contribution and involvement will ease and alleviate the families’  burden,” said Syahrunizam Samsudin, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Edgenta.

Shaiful Subhan, Managing Director of Edgenta Mediserve Sdn Bhd and Head of Healthcare Solutions of UEM Edgenta, handed over the food aid packages to Napsiah Khamis, Political Secretary to the Minister of Health. Also present during the ceremony was Wan Laila Fatihah, Head of Corporate  Communications of UEM Edgenta. They then proceeded to visit some of the families who were badly  affected by the floods.
