Govt Expanding Promotion Activities For Rubber To New Markets

The Plantation and Commodities Ministry through the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) is actively drawing up and implementing promotional activities to increase the export of high-value rubber products such as rubber gloves, tyres and latex mattresses, said Its deputy minister Datuk Siti Aminah Aching.

She said the products were promoted through promotional activities abroad such as international trade fairs, trade missions and business matching, educational seminars and advertising.

“These promotional activities not only cover major markets such as the United States and Europe, but also countries with high populations and great potentials such as China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Colombia, Poland, the Philippines, Pakistan, and Turkey,” she said.

Siti Aminah said the initiatives and promotions that were undertaken had increased the demand for local natural rubber and led to an increase in the rubber floor price.

In efforts to drive more youths into the sector, the ministry said it has implemented various initiatives to improve knowledge for youths in estate management.
