MATRADE Sets Sales Target Of RM2.1 Billion At MIHAS 2023

MATRADE CEO, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) aims to achieve sales of RM2.1 billion for this year’s edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS).

MATRADE CEO, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said the sales target is achievable given the reopening of China’s economic activities.

“For last year’s edition of MIHAS, our sales projection was RM1.9 billion but we exceeded the target which stood at RM2.39 billion. Our target this year is RM2.1 billion and this is RM200 million higher compared to the sales projection of RM1.9 billion last year.

“We are optimistic about the target as China has reopened its economic activities and this has enabled more companies from the nation to exhibit at MIHAS 2023. They are coming as exhibitors with 111 booths at MIHAS 2023,” he said during a press conference after the soft launch of MIHAS 2023 here, today.

The 19th edition of MIHAS 2023 is hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and organised by MATRADE.

MIHAS will be held over four days, from Sept 12-15, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Themed “Paving the Way of Halal”, the MIHAS 2023 edition will feature the latest halal trends, technologies and innovations across 13 clusters comprising food and beverages; modest fashion and lifestyle; cosmetics and personal care; and food technology and packaging, besides Islamic finance and fintech, media and recreation, retail and franchise, Muslim-friendly hospitality and tourism, pharmaceutical and medicals, services and enablers, education, e-commerce, and Islamic arts and culture.

MIHAS 2023 is expected to be the largest in the post-pandemic era with over 35,000 local and international visitors expected, 1,500 booths, and 40 country pavilions.
