MOT Increases Age Limit Of Vehicles For The Use Of Taxi, E-Hailing To 15 Years

The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) in a statement today announced the extension of the age limit for the use of taxi and e-hailing vehicles in line with the wishes of the Ministry of Transport in an effort to preserve the taxi and e-hailing industry towards improving the country’s transport system.

The extension of the taxi and e-hailing age limit applies to both taxi and e-hailing classes in Peninsular Malaysia and to e-hailing vehicle classes in Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan with the following conditions:

I. The extension applies to vehicles in the taxi and e-hailing license class that have reached the maximum age limit in the period starting January 1, 2023;
II. All vehicles that will be given the approval comply with and pass all PUSPAKOM mandatory periodic inspection requirements; and
Ill. Comply with other operating conditions set to ensure vehicle safety, user comfort and the industry’s image are guaranteed.

“APAD hopes that with this notification, taxi and e-hailing industry players will be able to improve the quality of the service and make this service a trusted and quality mode of choice for the people,” it said in the statement.
