Singaporean Authority Seize 85,000 Vape Products In Raid

The Singaporean authority seized more than 85,000 electronic vaporisers and related components in a warehouse raid conducted by the Health Sciences Authority.

HSA said this is the largest seizure of e-vaporiser or vape products surpassing a haul in 2021 where more than S$2.2 million worth of products were confiscated.

The raid was the result of HSA following up on leads from investigating a group of people suspected to be involved in the illegal trade of e-vaporisers.

Apart from more than 85,000 vape products that were seized in a subsequent raid, five suspected runners aged 20 to 33 were also detained at the warehouse, and are currently assisting HSA in investigations.

HSA and the police said the operation, which lasted more than 72 hours, disrupted an illegal e-vaporisers supply chain.

Under the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act, it is an offence to import, sell or distribute vape products.

Those found guilty for the first time can be fined up to S$10,000, jailed for up to six months, or both.
