Najib’s Pardon: No Political Pressure, Follow The Existing Procedure, Says Zahid Hamidi

UMNO’s desire to submit an application to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to consider pardoning the party’s former President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is in accordance with existing legal procedures and there is no political pressure.

UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that his party had followed all existing legal procedures before making an appeal to the Pardon Board to consider the matter.

“We as a political party certainly follow all the existing legal procedures and when the procedures are followed, it is up to the Pardon Board,” he said after officiating the 2023 Kelantan State Ramadan Charity Ceremony at the Bukit Tiu Knowledge Transformation Center in Machang on Sunday (April 9).

Commenting further, Ahmad Zahid who is also the Chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN) said that his party has tried to get a date to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that issues should not arise because anyone is allowed to submit an application to obtain a pardon and all parties must comply with the rules and conditions set.
