CGS International Reveals New Look After Major Acquisition

CGS International Securities Malaysia (CGS MY) has revealed its new brand and proposition, marking a significant milestone in the company’s evolution. This move follows the acquisition of a 100% stake in CGS-CIMB Securities (Malaysia) by China Galaxy Securities (CGS) on December 29, 2023.

The rebranding initiative includes a fresh corporate name and logo, reflecting the group’s heritage while signaling its growth ambitions and plans for the future. The new name, CGS International Securities Malaysia, builds upon the positive brand equity of the CGS-CIMB joint venture and its established capabilities, both locally and regionally.

This acquisition is expected to not only enhance CGS MY’s networks in China and ASEAN but also provide greater connections with regional clients and investment opportunities. Present at the unveiling of CGS MY’s new brand were esteemed guests, including Deputy Minister of Finance, Lim Hui Ying, and industry leaders.

Lim Hui Ying congratulated CGS MY on this milestone, emphasising the significance of the continued relationship with China as a key trading partner. She expressed confidence in Malaysia’s investment ecosystem and highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering economic growth and strengthening the country’s position as a major investment destination in the region.

CGS International, Group Chief Executive Officer, Carol Fong outlined the company’s vision to become Asia’s global investment house. She highlighted the strategic blueprint set in 2022, which aims to diversify and sustain the business, achieve greater economic collaboration, and support the expansion of quality Chinese and ASEAN companies.

CGS MY remains committed to helping clients and the broader community achieve their financial goals and forge a stronger, more resilient financial future. The company aims to leverage its digital capabilities to democratize access to investment products, especially for the retail client segment.
