MAS Advises Passengers To Arrive At KLIA 4 Hours Ahead During Raya Period

Malaysia Airlines has issued a travel advisory asking passengers travelling during the upcoming peak festive season, especially between 17 April to 1 May 2023, to be at KLIA, four hours ahead of their scheduled departure time.

It said this is to allow sufficient time for check-in procedures and the necessary document checks at various touchpoints.

  • The airline has also requested those performing web or mobile check-in to do so anywhere from 48 hours to 90 minutes before the flight. Passengers can also use the self-service kiosks at KLIA, and print their luggage tags and boarding pass. Passengers can then proceed to the baggage drop counter or straight to the boarding gate if they are travelling without luggage. 
  • Check-in counters will close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time for domestic and international flights, immigration and security clearance processes are estimated to take around 45 minutes and the boarding gate will close 30 minutes prior to the flight departure.

Passengers are to take note of the following: 

  • Travellers choosing self-service check-in at KLIA, especially those flying to international destinations, are advised to verify their travel documents at the check-in counter. Bring the required travel documents such as passport and identification card as well as MyKID for those travelling with children.

As a a reminder of the Cabin Baggage Policy: Economy Class passengers are allowed to bring onboard one cabin-size luggage and one personal item that weighs no more than 7kg in total (for both). Business Class passengers are allowed to bring onboard two cabin-size luggage and one personal item that weighs no more than 14kg in total (for both). Personal items are like a briefcase, handbag (male/female), laptop/computer bag or small camera bag

For a passenger travelling with an infant, they are allowed to bring onboard ONE of the following at no additional charge in addition to the personal items mentioned above:
a) Infant amenities bag, not more than 5kg – containing infant food for consumption on board and nappies during flight); OR
b) Small infant carrycot; OR
c) Cabin size fully collapsible lightweight baby stroller

Passengers are also allowed to bring onboard ONE of the following at no additional charge:
d) Duty-free shopping bag for goods purchased at the airport on the day of your flight only; OR
e) An overcoat
