Malaysia’s Records Highest Trade Surplus Of RM26.69 Billion In March 2023: MITI

Malaysia’s trade surplus in March 2023 widened to RM26.69 billion as compared to the corresponding month the previous year. This was the 35th consecutive month of trade surplus since May 2020 and the highest trade surplus ever recorded for the month of March.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade And Industry (MITI) said while the trade surplus expanded, trade for the month declined by 1.6% to RM232.72 billion.

Auto & Autoparts Sector Sees Another Record-Breaking Month

The Malaysian automotive total industry volume (TIV) for March represented a new monthly record high of 78,849 units, as it marked the last month to deliver orders exempted from the sales and service tax (SST).

RHB Research cited that the sector remains overweight while the future of the TIV may slightly soften against an SST boosted high base and new model launches should support new orders and deliveries.

Higher Loan Approval May Signal Better Sales Outlook For Property Sector: MIDF

Bank Negara recently revealed that loan applications for property purchases had rebounded by 26.6% month-on-month in February. The second month of the year incidentally also saw loan applications at the highest level in six months, which could be due to recovery in buying interest following a pause in the central bank’s overnight policy rate hike in January, as loan applications soared 40% year-on-year with buying interest recovering from the subdued demand in the past few months.

Total approved loans also grew by 26.6% month-on-month, in line with the rate of increase in the number of applications, reversing the declining trend of the five previous months…

Over 34,000 Eligible Application Received For FSA2 EPF Amounting To RM722 Million

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) today announced that 34,643 applications, or nearly half of the 74,392 received under MBSB Bank’s Ihsan-i Account 2 Support Facility (FSA2) as of yesterday (April 14), are eligible applications for a total sum of RM722 million.
