Maxis Keen To Play A More Direct Role In Dual Network

Maxis which is the only telco that has yet to sign the 5G agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad has welcomed the Government’s decision on the focus on achieving 80% 5G coverage by year-end before implementing the dual network model for 2024.

The telco in a release said it is committed to working closely with the industry to accelerate 5G for the nation in line with the Government’s digital ambitions. Maxis added it looks forward to providing 5G-related products and services to its customers soon, with a focus on affordability and adoption

Based on the announcement by the government, the rollout of the second network is expected to commence under phase two, in which Maxis said it looks forward to playing a more direct role in the country’s 5G implementation by leveraging its
expertise, resources, and existing infrastructure.

The second largest operator said it has already been developing multi-industry 5G use cases with major players for commercial use through its 5G Alliance. It has also expanded its 5G international roaming services to more countries and has rolled out a range of 5G devices to our customers since last year.
