MATRADE Assists 37 Malaysian Companies Participating In HOFEX 2023 In Hong Kong

The biennial international trade exhibition HOFEX, was officiated yesterday (May 10) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year marks the first edition after several years of pandemic, and features 37 Malaysian exhibitors at the Malaysia Pavilion (Hall 1C-D), showcasing various food products ranging from health and functional food, ready-to-eat and ready-to-drink products, sauces and pastes, food ingredients, durian and durian-based products as well as bird’s nest products.

The significant number of Malaysian companies that participated in this exhibition is an indicator of strong interest towards Malaysian brands to leverage HOFEX as a platform to access markets such as Hong Kong, China, Northeast Asia and beyond.

Besides that, more than 1,200 international brands and over 25,000 buyers joined HOFEX. Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) through its office in Hong Kong is linking potential local importers and distributors to source from the participated Malaysian exhibitors during this event.

To add, 95 percent of Hong Kong’s food and beverage (F&B) products available in the market were imported. The city is also a major trading hub for re-exporting goods into China, Macao and other surrounding markets in Asia.

There is also a growing interest on Halal F&B in the market due to its clean and safe concept.
