Bursa Remains Lower At Midday

Bursa Malaysia continued its downtrend at midday on the back of profit-taking activities as the US Federal Reserve’s hawkish signal sparked worries over two more potential rate hikes in 2023 despite a positive regional market performance.

At 12.30pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 6.85 points or 0.5% to 1,374.88 from 1,381.73 at Thursday’s close.

The key index opened 0.69 of a point firmer at 1,382.42 on Friday morning.

The broader market was negative as decliners outpaced gainers 375 to 329, while 426 counters were unchanged, 1,154 untraded and 25 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.71 billion units worth RM817.73 million.
