Maxis has been selected by Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd (BHPetrol) to participate in its wide-scale digitalization exercise in a bid to improve customer service at retail stations.
In a statement today, Maxis said that as a network provider, it will deploy its managed software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) to power BHPetrol’s outdoor payment terminals at every petrol pump and point of sale system at all its retail stations in Peninsular Malaysia.
SD-WAN is a networking technology that offers adaptable, scalable, and affordable converged connectivity solutions while incorporating built-in security measures to ensure end-to-end communication protection.
Maxis’ SD-WAN has already been rolled out to more than 240 locations, with implementation at other stations expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Maxis’ CEO, Goh Seow Eng, said that this partnership enables Maxis to offer unique capabilities and experience in providing next-generation networking technologies.
Meanwhile, BHPetrol’s CEO, Azizul Azily Ahmad, stated the partnership will enable fostering of greater innovation, improve operations, and elevate the overall customer experience at its retail stations.
According to the statement, BHPetrol envisions a “retail of the future” experience that requires a reliable, ultra-high-speed network, which can be delivered by Maxis’ SD-WAN.
Both companies are also exploring future opportunities to implement smart retail technologies, including shopping behavior analytics, proximity payment, and mobile wallet and biometric authentication solutions.
