Dato’ Mircle Yap Joins KAJ Development As Non-Executive Director

KAJ Development Sdn Bhd, the developer of the Melaka Gateway project and the Melaka International Cruise Terminal (MICT), announced that it would be strengthening its board of directors with the appointment of Dato’ Mircle Yap Ching Chai as an Independent Director.

Melaka Gateway is a strategic development project, carrying national significance, aimed to boost Melaka’s economy and further establish Malaysia as a key player in the global tourism and business sector.

An experienced figure in international finance and corporate governance, Dato’ Mircle will add his considerable expertise to KAJ Development in a non-executive capacity, providing strategic guidance and oversight to the Melaka Gateway project.

Commenting on his appointment Dato’ Mircle said, “In my new role as Independent Non-Executive Director at KAJ Development, I am thrilled to apply my experience and ideas to advance Melaka Gateway’s ambitions, particularly in the strategic areas of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.”

KAJ Development, in collaboration with the Melaka state government, is driving forward with works on the first island of Melaka Gateway, known as PME-1. This area is planned to be a vibrant hub of tourism and business and the location of the future MICT.

KAJ Development recently entered into agreements with a consortium of Middle Eastern organisations to co-develop MICT and a proposed free trade zone, aiming to further elevate Melaka Gateway’s value proposition.

Upon completion, MICT is poised to become a world-class destination with a range of comprehensive amenities and facilities to support the growth of Malaysia’s cruise industry.
