UEM Sunrise To Appoint Khazanah’s Datuk Hisham Hamdan As New Chairman

UEM Sunrise will be appointing Khazanah’s director Datuk Mohamad Hishammudin Hamdan as its new Chairman effective July 1.

Datuk Hamdan has over 30 years of working experience in senior leadership and board positions. His expertise spans a variety of corporate structures, encompassing businesses in various sectors and multiple countries. During his career, he spent 12 years in the capital markets, focusing on equity research and investment banking, working with various international investment banks.

He is currently an Executive Director of Investments at Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the strategic investment fund for the Government of Malaysia. As the Head of Public Markets in Khazanah, he is entrusted with a mandate to invest in more than 10 countries worldwide. He previously covered the Auto, Agrifood, and Iskandar Malaysia portfolios and served as Executive Director of Research. Datuk Mohamad is a founding member of the Board of Trustees of Khazanah Research Institute. Prior to joining Khazanah in April 2011, he served Sime Darby Berhad in various senior capacities since 2004, covering strategy and business development, healthcare, energy & utilities, and China.

He was formerly Chairman of the Board of UDA Holdings Berhad and BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, the developer of Bukit Bintang City Centre. He has previously served on the Board of Iskandar Investment Berhad, Sunway Iskandar Sdn Bhd and Southern Marina Development Sdn Bhd. He was also a member of the Board and Investment Committee of ValueCap Sdn Bhd, an investment house that was equally owned by Khazanah, Permodalan Nasional Berhad, and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan).
