Sabah Port Expects Increase In Container Volume With HK Based SITC

Sapangar Bay Container Port celebrated the launch of SITC’s new China- Vietnam-Malaysia (CVM) container shipping service by hosting a welcoming ceremony for CVM vessel, the ‘MV. HF Spirit’.

Under the CVM route, SITC will provide weekly direct services calling Nansha, Shekou, Haiphong, Qinzhou, Ho Chi Minh, Kuching, Bintulu, and Kota Kinabalu. Four vessels will be alternately deployed with each vessel having a carrying capacity of up to 1,032 TEUs. The new service will encourage trade growth between China, Vietnam, and East Malaysia as parties benefit from the increased capacity, improved transit time, and secured weekly connections between ports.

According to Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd’s Managing Director, Datuk Ng Kiat Min “As business continues to normalise post pandemic, Sabah Ports will cater to the expected rise of container volume by working with strategic industry players that provide a reliable network for movement of goods.” “We look forward to building a strong partnership with SITC and their local agent, Dynamic Linkage Logistics Sdn Bhd.” “This collaboration signifies SITC’s confidence in SBCP’s capabilities and this cooperation will strengthen SBCP’s future as a regional transshipment hub.” According to Alphaliner statistics, counted by capacity, SITC or SITC International Holdings Co., Ltd., ranks No. 13 in the global container shipping enterprises as of Dec

Based in Hong Kong, SITC operates 108 vessels, including 84 self-owned vessels. They operate over 75 service routes which covers 17 countries and 76 major ports in area of Mainland China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand,
Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Bengal, Myanmar, Russia and India.
