Natural Rubber Production Up 6.8%, Said DOSM

Natural Rubber (NR) production increased by 6.8 per cent in May 2023 (25,062 tonnes) as compared to April 2023 (23,460 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR increased by 20.2 per cent (May 2022: 20,857 tonnes). Production of NR in May 2023 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (86.3%) as compared to estates sector (13.7%).

Total stocks of NR in May 2023 decreased by 11.4 per cent to 172,263 tonnes as compared to 194,464 tonnes in April 2023. Rubber processors factory contributed 92.4 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (7.5%) and rubber estates (0.1%).

Exports of Malaysia’s NR amounted to 37,062 tonnes in May 2023, decreased 1.8 per cent as against April 2023 (37,728 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 41.9 per cent of total exports in May 2023 followed by Germany (16.3%), Pakistan (3.7%), Türkiye (2.9%) and Portugal (1.6%).

Analysis of the average monthly price showed that Latex Concentrated recorded a decrease of 1.3 per cent (Mei 2023: 488.76 sen per kg; April 2023: 495.00 sen per kg) while Scrap increased by 2.8 per cent (May 2023: 478.02 sen per kg; April 2023: 465.21 sen per kg). Prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) are mixed with a decline of 1.2 per cent and increase up to 2.2 per cent.
