Renowned tech industry veteran Bernard Chiang (main pic), with an illustrious career spanning over three decades at the helm of international IT companies, has been appointed Strategic Advisor to fast-rising Malaysian startup Supplycart Technologies Sdn Bhd (Supplycart).

Bernard’s remarkable career trajectory includes the groundbreaking role of the inaugural Managing Director of Lenovo Malaysia, post IBM’s technology sale to the Chinese behemoth in 2004, and influential leadership positions at both Logicalis Malaysia and SAP Malaysia among others like HP.

During his stewardship at Logicalis Malaysia, Bernard was instrumental in shaping business strategy, leading the leadership team, providing pivotal market directions, bolstering brand positioning and cultivating a high-performance culture. His commitment to meritocracy and talent development resulted in remarkably high employee retention rates.

In his tenure at SAP Malaysia, Bernard fast-tracked the company into its ‘golden era’, by articulating, developing and operationalising transformative business and organisational strategies, as well as setting formidable sales and revenue benchmarks. Today, Bernard’s legacy continues to live on in SAP Malaysia due to the simplified processes and best practices implemented during his tenure.

In this light, Bernard’s wealth of experience and insightful strategies certainly provide invaluable direction to Supplycart as this fast-rising startup sail purposefully towards exponential success from an already robust foundation.

Supplycart has already been recognised amongst the Top 500 High-Growth Companies Asia-Pacific in the annual Financial Times ranking for 2021 and 2023, and its momentum shows no sign of slowing with the company going from strength to strength.

Its Group CEO Jonathan Oh (pic) said that Supplycart “is immensely fortunate to have Bernard accept the role as Strategic Advisor as we move towards the next phase of growth”.

“Bernard’s vast experience and expertise will be vital as we continue to evolve ADAM, our flagship e-procurement solution with embedded financing capabilities, to further enhance its potential to revolutionise procurement and vendor management processes,” added Jonathan.

Adding to the urgency of digitising procurement processes is the upcoming e-invoicing mandate in Malaysia.

Supplycart, with its groundbreaking innovation ADAM, serves as a crucial catalyst for businesses and stakeholders to meet these new requirements seamlessly, further asserting its role in transforming and modernising procurement in Malaysia and throughout the region.

“Anticipating changes in the procurement landscape and preparing businesses to adapt is at the heart of what we do. The impending e-invoicing regulations only emphasise the importance of our mission. With ADAM, we aim to make the transition to e-invoicing as smooth and effortless as possible for all involved,” he added.

Supplycart, a Malaysian company headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia with a regional presence in Singapore and Hong Kong, is devoted to simplifying and digitising business procurement processes by bringing all stakeholders in the ecosystem under a cohesive yet simplified platform.

Its flagship solution, ADAM, is a cloud-based e-procurement system that aims to streamline procurement tasks, offering a comprehensive, cost-effective and scalable solution that can seamlessly integrate with existing business infrastructure.

Some industry observers regard ADAM as being an affordable alternative to SAP Ariba – what’s more with ADAM standing apart with its emphasis on unlimited users and locations, deviating from traditional user-based licenses.

This unique offering enables businesses to scale and transform their operations while maintaining proper control and compliance – and have already nurtured a loyal following with household name clients such as L’Oreal, Segi University and Amazin Graze.

“Beyond its unlimited user policy, ADAM boasts a robust suite of features: From catalogue requisition and digital approval workflows from request to purchase orders, erfx, spend analytics, audit logs and vendor management, ADAM encompasses all facets of the procurement process,” said Jonathan.

“Our platform’s integration capabilities provide another key advantage. With open APIs, ADAM can seamlessly connect with a variety of existing systems such as Sage, SAP, Microsoft, Oracle, XERO and more. This level of interoperability allows businesses to scale the modules as they grow, creating a truly integrated and future-proof solution.”

Supplycart is also dedicated to facilitating change management and ensuring smooth system implementation. The company collaborates closely with customers, leveraging its expertise to share best practices and manage changes effectively.

“Designed to foster transparency and compliance, ADAM increases efficiency and reduces overall costs for businesses. Its cloud-based nature allows for easy access and flexibility, seamlessly enabling approvals for purchase requisitions or vendor submissions to be made digitally ,” said Jonathan.

With Bernard Chiang’s strategic acumen, Supplycart’s ADAM is set to redefine the e-procurement space in Malaysia and throughout Asia-Pacific

“Representing an affordable, user-friendly and fully integrated ‘best of breed’ solution, ADAM addresses the procurement challenges businesses face today. The future of procurement is here, and it’s called ADAM,” said Bernard.
