Central Medicare Aims To Reduce Energy Cost Of RM72 Million By Going Solar

Tenaga Nasional Berhad RE subsidiary Gsparx has signed a supply agreement with renewable energy with Central Medicare Sdn Bhd tol install a rooftop solar photovoltaic system at the CMSB factory and hostel sites in Teluk Intan, Perak, with a total capacity of 6.039 MWp.

Upon completion of the installation, the rooftop solar can deliver 8,163 MWh of solar energy per year. This equates to more than 5,000 metric tonnes of CO2 offset annually, equivalent to over 58 thousand tree seedlings grown for 10 years. Besides the signing of the agreement, the company also renewed its subscription to the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) with a capacity of 10 GWh in support of Malaysia’s commitment to becoming a zero-carbon country as early as 2050.

The introduction of solar energy in the factory is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 5,215 metric tons per year and enjoy cost reductions of up to RM 72 million over 25 years.
