The Turkish embassy recently invited members of the media to participate in Türkiye: Your Resilient Investment Partner, an event that showcases the investment potential of Türkiye. The event also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

“Malaysia is a natural partner of Türkiye to produce, invest and grow together. In addition to bilateral cooperation, Türkiye and Malaysia cooperate at different multilateral platforms including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Developing Eight (D-8),” said Republic Of Türkiye Ambassador Emir Salim Yuksel.

“In terms of economic relations, our trade volume has an increasing trend. Last year the bilateral trade approached 5 billion dollars. I am confident that this figure will double down in the upcoming years,” His Excellency said.

Moreover, Turkish and Malaysian businesses have enjoyed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) since 2015. Türkiye has recently expanded the scope of this agreement with an additional protocol. Now the FTA includes trade in services and e-commerce, as well as in investments.

Different sectors of Turkish and Malaysian economies interact, cooperate and complement each other, from aerospace to basic commodity trade and more.

These two nations also work together in the halal sector, especially in the field of halal quality infrastructure. Türkiye has considerable investments in Malaysia and significant Malaysian investment in Türkiye. On the other hand, there is still huge, untapped potential.

“We offer a huge, stable market of 85 million consumers inside our borders. Plus, having completed Customs Union with the European Union decades ago, your investment in Türkiye will have free access to the EU market,” His Excellency said.

In addition, Türkiye’s Non-EU neighbours together constitute a huge market. His Excellency added that an investment in Türkiye means products can be sold to the EU, not considering access to well-established transportation and commodity chains reaching from the Middle East to the Caucasus, Central Asia and beyond.
