Year Long Events In Langkawi To Woo More Singaporean Visitors

Langkawi, through the Langkawi Development Authority, is looking to woo more Singapore travellers to the island and is working closely with Tourism Malaysia to keep the holiday destination top of mind with both domestic and global markets through various initiatives.

According to hotel guest statistics, Singapore ranks No.2 for Langkawi in terms of tourist arrivals and stays, and this comes as no surprise considering the distance and ease of travel. Singaporeans love the juxtaposition of Langkawi island – the sun-kissed turquoise waters combined with its beautiful waterfalls and diverse forest valleys setting the background for its internationally acclaimed beach and island resorts, offering an unparalleled tranquil escape for those needing to recharge and revitalise. It also boasts ancient rainforests and rock formations which are hundreds of million years old, and was recognised as South East Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark back in 2007,” said Tuan Wan Kamarul of LADA.

He added that although Langkawi may be one of the top choices for a short-haul holiday destination for visitors from Singapore, the island still needs to remain competitive and dynamic. LADA has planned numerous high-impact events and experiences within the island to further stimulate tourism and to continuously position Langkawi as a must-visit destination
for international and domestic travellers.

This year alone, travellers can look forward to IRONMAN Malaysia Langkawi, Langkawi Legendary Ride 2023, Langkawi Geopark Enduro Challenge, and Langkawi International Half Marathon, held in various parts. New attractions within Langkawi such as the Dream Forest, Malaysia’s first immersive night attraction offer a surreal experience of sound and light and are set to captivate visitors. The park brings local stories and legends to life through soundscapes, illuminations, and projection mapping on the trees. Visitors can expect to see and hear stories about Dayang Bunting, Merong Mahawangsa, and the Giants of Langkawi, all while surrounded by the natural beauty of the rainforest.
