BMW, Gentari Launch New EV Charging Facilities At The Exchange TRX

BMW Group Malaysia, in collaboration with Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari), has introduced new electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at The Exchange TRX, positioning the luxurious lifestyle destination as a key hub for EV owners in the country.

The newly activated EV charging stations, located at The Exchange TRX’s basement carpark, feature a total of thirteen units of 22kWh AC chargers. Among these, five units are conveniently situated at the Premium Parking level, while the remaining eight units are housed at Level B1, offering EV owners a fast and efficient solution to recharge their vehicles during their visit to the upscale shopping hub.

BMW Group Malaysia, Managing Director, Benjamin Nagel emphasised the importance of robust EV charging infrastructure to support the growing adoption of electromobility in Malaysia’s urban areas. He expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Gentari, which aims to meet the evolving needs of customers by establishing cutting-edge charging technology in strategic locations.

Shah Yang Razalli, Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility, echoed Nagel’s sentiments, highlighting Gentari’s commitment to advancing green mobility and energy transition in Malaysia. With over 335 EV charging points deployed nationwide, Gentari operates the largest DC charging network in the country, contributing to enhanced accessibility to low carbon transportation options.

The Exchange TRX, Project Director and Lendlease Malaysia, Head of Retail, Mitch Wilson emphasised the project’s alignment with Lendlease’s vision of integrating sustainable solutions into urban living. He underlined The Exchange TRX’s role as a forward-thinking hub for green mobility in Kuala Lumpur, promoting eco-friendly transportation choices.

The charging stations at The Exchange TRX are accessible daily from 10AM to 10PM, with charging rates set at RM0.25 per minute. BMW Group Malaysia has also made over 2,020 charging facilities available through strategic partnerships, while Gentari’s clean energy platform ‘Gentari Go’ enables cross-border roaming access to over 2,000 chargers across Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

The collaboration between BMW Group Malaysia, Gentari, and The Exchange TRX reflects a shared commitment to shaping the future of mobility and promoting sustainable transportation solutions in Malaysia.
