KLCI Regains Earlier Losses To End Higher At Midday

Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session on Wednesday (Aug 9) higher, with the key index recouping earlier losses on buying support in heavyweights as market sentiment improved following a slew of positive economic data.

At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBMKLCI) gained 6.34 points to 1,457.34 from 1,451 at Tuesday’s (Aug 8) close. The key index opened 0.7 of a point lower at 1,450.3 and moved between 1,446.71 and 1,458.71 throughout the session.

However, the broader market saw losers leading gainers 399 to 318, while 419 counters were unchanged, 1,154 untraded and 16 others suspended. Turnover stood at 1.79 billion units worth RM886.19 million.
