Party Leaders Back Amirudin To Remain As Selangor Chief Minister

Amidst calls for the Selangor Chief Minister Dato Seri Amirudin Shari be replaced, the Selangor Pakatan Harapan leaders have agreed to retain Sungai Tua representative Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari as Dato’ Menteri Besar.

“We said the consensus is to support Amirudin as menteri besar, we said so in the letter (to the palace),” said Selangor National Amanah Party (Amanah) Chairman Ir Izham Hashim.

“It is true that the palace asked for three names, but the name of Amirudin as menteri besar was consensus (agreed) from the beginning, there has been no change since the beginning,” he said.

Ir Izham also denied allegations that the Selangor People’s Justice Party (KEADILAN) leaders were involved in discussions regarding the selection of other candidates after the state election (PRN).

Previously, the media reported that the Dato’ Menteri Besar’s swearing-in ceremony may be held next Monday at the latest to give the palace space to make appropriate preparations.

In the PRN last Saturday, HARAPAN and Barisan Nasional (BN) Selangor won 34 out of a total of 56 seats to return to form the government with a simple majority.
