Controversial Redevelopment Of Shah Alam Stadium Still On Schedule

The redevelopment of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA), covering 76.08 hectares, is going along according to the schedule said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari who has regularly queried the need for such an expensive redevelopment cost for the project.

The progress of the stadium is being finalised he said and will be announced in the near future.

“We have just concluded a meeting, and there are several follow-up steps which need to be taken. At the very least, the demolition operations will commence this year,” he added. The project was initially to kick off in October as mentioned before the state election, and parties are awaiting the announcement of whether the demolition will take place soon.

The controversy surfaced when the cost of redevelopment was about RM800 million which state taxpayers deemed high, however, Amirudin defended the high bill as the estimated high cost of repairing the existing stadium would have been even higher.
