Four Telco’s To Be Reprimanded For Poor Network Coverage

Following complaints raised on the weak level of communication coverage in Taman Ambassador Village, Durian Tunggal, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission carried out on-site mobile line auditing and discovered several telco namely Celcom, Maxis, YTL and Telekom Malaysia did not comply with mandatory service quality standards set.

Accordingly, the regulator said it will issue a notice to all four service providers requesting them to provide further explanation and to put in place an interim plan and long-term solutions to address coverage issues in the affected area.

In addition, MCMC said it will share the existing plans that are currently underway and have them implemented to improve the quality of communication services. For now, the construction fiber optic network under the National Digital Interconnection Plan (JENDELA) is being implemented at the location of the complaint and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
