PM Anwar who is New York for the 78th United Nations General assembly has been busy meeting with American business community in efforts to draw investment to the country.
The PM in his facebook posts said he met with four giant companies namely Google, Boeing, Medtronic and Siemens Healthineers on the possibily in making Malaysia their choice for investing.
The discussion was also attended by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Health, Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Seri Diraja Zambry Kadir as well as agency representatives from MIDA and Matrade.
According to Anwar, all these companies expressed their desire to grow their operations and businesses in Malaysia.
Anwar also had a meeting with renowned economist who is also Nobel Memorial Prize winner in economics, Professor Joseph Stiglitz of Columbia University. Where they both shared views on the economic needs of developing countries given more equal opportunities, especially in the increasingly challenging world economic environment.
Apart from that they also discussed measures and strategies that can be implemented to increase income and eliminate poverty while ensuring sustainability. More comprehensive education also needs to be given attention, for the sake of building the identity and legitimacy of future generation.
