MTDC Tech Conference 2023 To Drive Sustainable Tech Investment In Malaysia

Over 400 participants at the MTDC Technology Conference & Exhibition (MTCE) gathered to deliberate the state of Malaysia’s deep tech ecosystem and explore how investments into new technologies will impact the country.

MTCE 2023 was launched by Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), who highlighted the important role of technology in driving sustainability and impactful investments for Malaysia.

MTCE is a unique platform that brings together participants from different industries who are keen to share insights, information, and best practices on various topics related to the promotion of technology and sustainability as key drivers for social and economic development.

Speaking at the event, Ts. Hj Mohammad Hazani, CEO of MTDC, said, “Globally the speed of technological change, coupled with a positive investment climate for deep tech, is exciting with Malaysia’s current investments in deep tech showing significant growth.

“Part of our focus at MTDC is to assist all sectors of both the deep tech and venture capital investment community in maximizing their opportunities in relation to Malaysia’s technological advancement. Part of this is realising the untapped potential of our SMEs,” he said.

YB Chang Lih Kang during his remarks also shared that, “I believe MTDC is also championing this PRECISE framework to drive technological development in Malaysia, ensuring that the benefits of these advancements reach all segments of our society, supporting all levels of businesses to adopt technology development, such as small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to help them adopt new ways and processes deserve our applause”.

Carrying the theme “Investment for Impact: Technology Driving Sustainability” MTCE 2023 was organised by the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), a strategic investor and deep technology venture builder that brings innovations to market.

Throughout the conference, participants had the opportunity to explore a wide array of I4.0 solutions, advanced technologies, and services presented by companies in MTDC’s ecosystem. This exhibition facilitates interactions and fosters partnerships for future collaborations and business opportunities with industry leaders, professionals, and potential collaborators.

MTCE 2023 also aims to inform and create awareness among participants about MTDC products and services, providing valuable insights into their benefits. By creating opportunities, participants can connect, communicate, and build partnerships with potential collaborators, government agencies, and industry leaders.

The event also marked a significant milestone as MTDC unveiled its Coffee Table Book titled “30 Techno Dreams,” highlighting the success and strengths of the companies within the MTDC ecosystem companies and its technopreneurs who dared to dream.

Looking ahead, attendees can look forward to the Road2Growth Central region (R2G) event on the second day of the conference. Open to the public, R2G serves as a platform to disseminate valuable information and introduce a suite of services provided by MTDC, including pitching sessions, funding programs, technopreneur training, and cutting-edge Industry 4.0 technology solutions from MTDC’s Centre of Nine Pillars (Co9P®).

Hazani added that MTCE 2023 is not just another tech conference and acts as a rallying point for change. 

“We’re inviting industry leaders to delve into deep tech areas ranging from artificial intelligence to biotechnology and to engage in discussions that will shape the future of sustainable investment in Malaysia,” he said.
