Sime Darby Property Receives Global Recognition For Environmentally Friendly Development

Sime Darby Property Berhad received two globally recognised certificates for its efforts in environmentally friendly property development, namely for its Cantara Residences and Elmina.

The Cantara was awarded a Gold Rating in the Residential New Construction category by the Green Building Index Accreditation Panel. GBI is Malaysia’s first comprehensive rating system that is recognised internationally and benchmarked against international standards such as the World Green Building Council.

While Elmina Central Park in City of Elmina was recogised as an internationally certified arboretum verified by the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum. The 300-acre park is now officially certified as a ‘Level II arboretum’ after surpassing the minimum requirement of 100 species of woody plants and providing a valuable service to the public through various education and awareness initiatives.

Sime Darby Property’s Group Managing Director, Dato’ Azmir Merican said these recognitions demonstrate the Company’s commitment to upholding high standards of sustainability. “Sime Darby Property’s bold and substantial commitment to sustainability has supported our goal of being the nation’s leading property developer.
