DOE Detects Unhealthy Air Quality In 5 Areas

The Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System operated by the Department of Environment has identified five areas that have recorded unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 10 this morning.

Bukit Rambai, Melaka is the most affected area with an API reading of 153. According to the website, the areas that recorded IPI above 100 are Melaka City (151), Port Dickson (124) in Negeri Sembilan, and Batu Pahat (132) as well as Tangkak ( 122) in Johor. Another 51 areas recorded average IPU readings (51-100) while 12 other areas recorded good API readings which were less than 50.

Meanwhile, Shah Alam recorded a reading of 79, Petaling Jaya (80), Johan Setia (77) and Klang (85). IPU readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51-100 moderate, 101-200 unhealthy, 201-300 very unhealthy and an API above 300 is dangerous.
