The Health Ministry is planning to table its anti-smoking Bill for its second reading in Parliament on October 10.
Its minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said that The Control of Smoking Product for Public Health Bill 2023, which includes the generational end game (GEG) smoking ban provision, was approved by the Cabinet in their meeting yesterday.
“The tabling of second reading of the bill is a form of continued commitment by the ministry and the Madani government in ensuring the health and safety of Malaysians from the danger of smoking products,” she said in a statement today.
The D.R. 25/2023 Bill was first tabled on June 12, and has been referred to the special parliamentary select committee for health.
The committee carried out further studies including support of bipartisan parties and discussions with relevant stakeholders.
