Odour In Water Treatment Plant, Water Disruption In Shah Alam, PJ, Gombak, KL

An odour pollution in Sungai Selangor has led to unscheduled water supply disruptions in various parts of the Klang Valley, including Shah Alam, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor.

Air Selangor Sdn Bhd’s (Air Selangor) acting chief executive officer Abas Abdullah said in a statement today that the pollution prompted a temporary shutdown of several water treatment plants (WTP).

Operations at all the affected water treatment facilities later resumed as of 4am this morning.

“However, there are still water supply disruptions and low water pressure in parts of the Klang Valley, Shah Alam, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor regions.

“A list of the affected areas is currently being updated and will be notified soon,’’ he said.

To mitigate the impact of the disruption, Abas said Air Selangor has dispatched water tankers to cater to the needs of the affected residents, giving priority to critical areas.

Selangor will keep the public informed about further developments concerning this incident, he added.
