Govt Allocates RM200 Million For Payung Rahmah

Government allocates RM200 million for the Payung Rahmah initiative, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the tabling of Budget in Dewan Rakyat today.

He said Payung Rahmah is a manifestation of government’s concern in the plights of Malaysians brought about by the rise of cost of living.

“The initiative mooted by Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub to ease the burden of Malaysians will not be stopped and will be strengthened.

“For example, the implementation of the Jualan Rahmah Programme (PJR) that offers 30 per cent discount for basic necessities has been expanded to more areas across the country,” he said.

Pasar Rahmah programme that offers the incentives to 1.2 million wholesaler markets, pasar malam sellers and farmer’s markets (pasar tani) will also continue to reduce the cost of business and in turn benefit consumers with lower price of goods.

“Payung Rahmah” is an initiative under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living ministry (KPDN).

Salahuddin had said his ministry will present the Rahmah economic initiative as a new plan to continue the ‘Payung Rahmah’ initiative going forward.

The Rahmah Economic Policy is designed to help achieve the goals of the National Economic Policy, thus increasing the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
