India In The Bottom Tier Of Global Hunger Index

India is at 111 spot from 125 countries in the Global Hunger Index this year with a total score of 28.7.

The index, which was published on Thursday (Oct 12) by the Irish human rights agency Concern Worldwide and German aid organisation Welthungerhilfe based on a few factors such as malnutrition, dwarfism and stunting among children.

“With a score of 28.7 in the Global Hunger Index 2023, it demonstrates serious malnutrition problem in India,” it said in a statement, based on the report.

The index is based on 100-point scale, with 0 as the highest and 100 represents the worst score.

The report showed that the rate of malnutrition among children is around 18.7% while the dwarfism is around 35.5%.

Sri Lanka took the 60th spot, with a score of 13.3 while Bangladesh is at the 81th spot with 19 points.

Meanwhile, Nepal is at the 69th spot with 15 points and Pakistan is at 102th with 26.6 points.

The second most populated country in the world China is one of 20 countries with the lowest rate of malnutrition with 5 point on the scale.
