Sunway Named Employer Of The Year

Sunway Group (Sunway), one of Southeast Asia’s leading conglomerates, bagged three awards at the HR Excellence Awards 2023, including most coveted “Employer of the Year” award.

Sunway took home gold in the categories of “Employer of the Year” and “Excellence in Employee Volunteerism”, and bronze for “Excellence in CSR Strategy”, in recognition of the company’s outstanding achievement and innovation in human resources management.

Sunway chief human resources officer Foo Shiang Wyne said Sunway will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, which would not be possible without the dedication, commitment and hard work of our people.

“These awards reaffirm our people-first organisational culture that promotes well-being and community engagement.

“We will continue to focus on robust and progressive talent development strategies that improve job satisfaction and engagement to engender loyalty and a genuine sense of purpose,” he said in a statement today.

Sunway is also committed to uplifting the livelihoods of the underprivileged and marginalised through empowering CSR programmes that involve its staff to instil spirit of volunteerism in their work.

The group engages its people through myriad initiatives under its flagship #SunwayforGood campaign, which has positively impacted more than half a million Malaysian beneficiaries throughout the years.

Established in 2013, the HR Excellence Awards were conceived as a platform for HR teams to highlight their innovative strategies and initiatives.

The 2023 11th edition of HR Excellence Awards is now a regional platform covering Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines honouring best-in-class HR practices through a rigorous peer-reviewed process by a jury of esteemed HR practitioners across Asia.

Sunway also recently dominated the Talentbank Graduates’ Choice Awards 2023, by clinching nine significant wins, and this reflect the group’s concerted efforts in creating and upholding an enriching and conducive environment for its talent, solidifying its reputation as the employer of choice.

Over the span of five decades, Sunway has grown and evolved into one of Southeast Asia’s leading conglomerates with a 16,000-strong workforce across 50 locations worldwide.

Sunway attributes its five decades of excellence to five foundational pillars that have been instrumental to the brand success namely People, Sustainability, Leadership, Business and Community.
