Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reprimanded Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin saying that he needs to provide evidence that Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid is being blackmailed.
“All I know is that is that I haven’t met him (Iskandar Dzulkarnain), I haven’t contacted him, I didn’t sent any representatives, so I don’t know who blackmail him.
“If there is proof (of what happened), bring it to light. Don’t just simply say,” he said after the symposium The Path Towards Greater Prosperity for Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur today (Oct 18).
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, added the claim of blackmail on Iskandar, who is from PN, is a serious allegation and has to be fully investigated.
Previously, Perikatan Nasional (PN) had claims that Iskandar has been threatened to support the government, in which if he refused, he was to be slapped with corruption charges.
Asked on whether the MP supported his leadership, Anwar said he is appreciative and thankful to Iskandar.
“I haven’t met or contacted him, but I thanked him for his support. Whether he wants to remains in PN is up to him,” Anwar said
Meanwhile, Anwar said today said that the vacancy for the minister position of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will be filled should there be a suitable candidate.
Anwar was responding to the rumours of a Cabinet reshuffle following the death of its former minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub last July.
“A Cabinet reshuffle? Is it necessary to reshuffle? To fill vacancy? When there is a suitable candidate (the position will be filled),” he said after the symposium The Path Towards Greater Prosperity for Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur today (Oct 18).
The minister post is temporarily filled by the Minister in The Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak and Special Task) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
