E-Wallet Aid Of RM100 Will Be Distributed In December

The government will distribute e-wallet aid worth RM100 in credit to qualified recipients this coming December, said Deputy Minister of Finance II, Steven Sim Chee Keong.

“The e-wallet credit of RM100 will be distributed in December. So (Malaysians) will receive it (the aid). I hope they will be patient as the government will keep its promise,” he told Bernama in Kuala Lumpur today.

The initiative will not only be limited household recipients but it will also be given to small business owners and petty traders.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced the e-wallet aid worth RM100 worth in credit to Malaysians aged 21 and above during the MADANI Economy launch ceremony on July 27.

The e-wallet aid of RM100 is a new initiative by the government to B40 and M40 groups with income of not more than RM100,000.

Meanwhile, Sim also said that the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) 2024 that was announced during Budget 2024 tabling will benefit 700,000 Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) beneficiaries.

He said that the beneficiaries will be eligible to receive cash aid of RM100 monthly during the period of 12 months.

Asked on the concern that the cash aid will be used for things that are not basic necessities, Sim said that the government should be confident that the underprivileged groups will put it to good use.

“Don’t assume that the less fortunate will buy cigarettes. I didn’t say that it didn’t happen but we need the to be flexible. If we (the government) are too strict on the regulations, it will only make it difficult for beneficiaries, especially those who are in need and has various necessities,” he said.
