With the ongoing predicament of MYAirline which has been officially suspended by MAVCOM, the situation on staff welfare looks grim.

The beleaguered airline issued a statement recently assuring that its employee’s welfare is of concern but had no concrete plans on how it plans to pay them even though they are still under payroll.

Taking steps to address the matter, the Ministry of Human Resources said it is concerned about the staff welfare and that it had a total of 123 people who have filed a claim for the balance of their wages at the Department of Labor against the airline.

The Ministry is urging all other staff involved to come forward to file a claim for the balance of their wages at the labor office as soon as possible as well. It said its necessary at this point in order to take further action in accordance with existing legislation.

The MYAirline case become an embarrasement for the airline industry which is suppose to be extremely regulated, spiiling into curruption, fraud and regulatory failure.
